Congratulations to our 2023 Fort Worth Magazine Top Doctors
A total of 52 JPS Health Network physicians have been named to Fort Worth Magazine’s 2023 Top Docs list. Each year, the magazine asks area physicians to nominate some of their peers that demonstrate excellence in their field. Once the online ballot process concludes, a panel of physicians reviews the submissions to determine a final list of honorees.
A Legacy for Generations to Come
Cindy Winter, PhD, FAHRA, CRA, Director of Radiology and Patient Transportation was an officer in the United States Merchant Marine who worked on liquefied natural tankers in Asia when she was diagnosed with colon cancer at 29. This diagnosis ended her time at sea, but it would lead her to a career that allows her to care for patients who need it the most.
JPS Clinical Pharmacy Awarded for Exceptional Quality of Care
The JPS Health Network's Clinical Pharmacy Department is the recipient of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties 2023 Weaver/Penna Award. It is awarded annually by the Board of Pharmacy Specialists (BPS) to an individual and a patient care organization. That shows that an organization has advanced in care and quality through specialized training, knowledge, and skill, contributing to the advancement of BPS board certification of pharmacists.
A Calling for Patient Care
Sabrina Sumner, RN, MDiv, BSN, CMSRN, was in pastoral ministry before she decided to pursue a career in nursing. She is the RN Clinical Manager for Primary Care at JPS Health Network’s South Campus Health Center, Medical Home Northeast Tarrant, Iona Reed Health Canter, Northwest Health Center for Women & Children, Diamond Hill Health Center, Gertrude Tarpley-Watauga Health Center, and the Employee Health Clinic. Sumner works with the staff, practice managers, and team leaders to ensure they meet the quality metrics for accreditation updates.
Mentoring the Next Group of Women Leaders
Daphne Walker, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Counsel, was inspired to pursue a career in healthcare because of her mother. Her mother was a registered nurse in their small hometown, and Walker would frequently meet her mother’s patients who talked about the difference she made in their lives. Seeing her mother's impact on many encouraged her.
Tips for a Healthier Heart
The JPS Community Outreach team hosted a Go Red Lunch and Learn at the Como Community Center on Saturday, February 25, to educate patients and community members about the importance of maintaining a healthy heart. The team provided tips to increase heart health and gave healthy Mediterranean lunch options.

With the celebration of Valentine's Day, it can be easy for an individual to feel left out if they aren't spending the holiday with a significant other. While this is a common reaction, it is important to remember it's only one day and that focusing on self-love and self-compassion every day is a lasting achievement.
