Spotlight on Lucy Semple

Lucy Semple says the transformation she has seen over eight years at JPS is “truly miraculous.” Semple, who joined JPS in February 2014, is the Manager of Clinical Quality, supervising a team focused on reviewing patient charts for both accuracy and quality of care issues.

She facilitates the process for the Network’s annual Leapfrog Group survey. In fall 2021, JPS earned an “A” grade for quality and patient safety. It was the first time that JPS earned the top grade, marking a high point in years of effort to improve patient care, safety, quality, and experience.

“From employees to patients, we have the absolute best – and it’s because of JPS and the culture that we’ve built for so many years,” Semple says. “The care that we provide to our patients is beyond compare and I am so PROUD to be a part of it!”

Semple started her career at JPS as a Staff Assistant in the Quality Division. She transitioned to Report Coordinator in Quality, then Business Operations Analyst in Health Information Management Services, before returning to the Quality Division as a leader.

“What I love most is that JPS ‘grows its own.’ The leaders here see the potential in their people and build them up, and I am forever grateful.”

Along the way, she completed several educational programs. She went back to school in 2014 to get an associate’s degree, then headed straight into her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tarleton State University, and then completed her MBA from Texas A&M University. She is currently finishing coursework for a master of health leadership degree from Western Governors University, incorporating what she is learning into her role at JPS.

“What I love most is that JPS ‘grows its own.’ The leaders here see the potential in their people and build them up, and I am forever grateful,” she said. “I am thankful for JPS and its resources for their employees. Working at JPS has been an eye opener for me and has helped me develop compassion and empathy, and seeing how we care for our patients has really cultivated a servant’s heart in me!”
