About the Research & Quality Symposium

The 2026 Research & Quality Symposium will take place May 19, 2026, at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) Atrium, located at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Building healthy communities through research, quality and patient experience featuring academic excellence awards. The 2026 symposium will consist of live poster presentations, Rapid Fire Research Competition, networking, and awards ceremony. We look forward to seeing you there!

Presentations:

Live Poster Presentation | May 19, 2026, at BRIT: Posters will be judged by a panel of experts.

Rapid Fire Research Competition | May 19, 2026, at Oakroom Botanical Gardens: This competition challenges presenters to summarize their research in 180 seconds, highlighting its significance and impact. Presentations will be judged by a panel.

Networking and Awards Ceremony May 19, 2026, at Oakroom Botanical Gardens: Awards will be presented to the winners of the Poster Presentations, Rapid Fire Research Competition and other research awards.

This diverse set of activities makes the symposium a dynamic and engaging event, combining presentations, networking, and recognition of scholarly achievement.

Keynote Speaker

David E. Gerber, M.D.

David E. Gerber, M.D.

David Gerber is a Professor of Hematology-Oncology and Public Health at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Within the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, he serves as Co-director of the Office of Education and Training and previously served as Associate Director of Clinical Research. David also serves as the Chair of the Clinical Trials Advisory Committee for the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. Through this work and related grants, he has had the honor of collaborating with an extraordinary team of oncologists and clinical research professionals at JPS.

Perhaps David’s favorite and most impactful work is in the area of studying and improving clinical trial design and implementation. This research has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and National Public Radio. It has also led to FDA and NIH policy changes related to trial eligibility criteria and the role of advanced practice providers in clinical trials.

Abstract Submission

Submit your abstract for the 2025 Research & Quality Symposium. The event on May 14 features live poster presentations and the Rapid-Fire Research Competition. Gallery posters will be available online from May 14–June 14.

Abstracts on all topics are welcome, and all submissions will be accepted. Live and gallery abstracts will be presented as posters, while Rapid-Fire participants may use any medium.

On September 22, 2025, Tarrant County Commissioners Court will adopt the Tarrant County Hospital District’s 2025 tax rate. The Commissioners Court has proposed a tax rate of $0.1650 which is below the no-new-revenue rate and will collect less taxes than the previous tax year.
