With school over, Tarrant County’s younger residents can slide into summer in good health.
JPS Health Network operates 19 school-based health centers, located in neighborhoods across Tarrant County. Offering sports and camp physicals, check-ups, immunizations and more, now is a great time for students and their siblings to make appointments. Clinics are open all summer, most with a special schedule: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Everman, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Kidwell and Northside clinics have different hours. “We encourage you to come in,” says Autumn Morris, a pediatric nurse practitioner at the Georgia Kidwell School-Based Health Center in Euless. “Call us and make an appointment! Let’s get you in before August so that your child is not in a big back to school rush.”
JPS offers $25 physicals for students in sports, band, cheerleading or other camps. Parents should accompany their students, bringing any forms and paperwork that needs to be completed. Our providers will also treat children when they are sick, provide checkups and write prescriptions, and teach families how to manage medical problems such as weight gain, asthma and diabetes.
JPS recommends setting up appointments for students and their siblings (up to age 22) at the school-based clinic closest to home. Referrals are not needed, and same-day appointments are available at many locations. Walk-ins are welcome and available on a first-come, first-served basis, and language translators are available.
