JPS Health Network has been honored with a commendation from the Texas Nurses Association for its continuing education programming for nurses.
While JPS has been certified for many years by the TNA to provide continuing education for its nurses, health network Nurse Residency Program Manager Cherie Hall said this is the first time JPS received a commendation for its professional development offerings in nursing.
“It’s a tremendous achievement to receive the commendation because only a handful of providers in the state have earned it,” Hall said. “It’s a great benefit to our nurses to be able to receive their continuing education through us, free of charge.”
The Texas Board of Nursing requires nurses to have 20 hours of continuing education every two years to renew their licenses.
The Texas Nurses Association renews certifications twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. As of the last certification cycle in the spring, only 18 organizations in the state held a commendation. None of them were located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“Approvals with commendation are reserved for those organizations submitting applications that are concise, well organized, meet or exceed American Nurses Credentialing Center/Texas Nurses Association Approved Provider application criteria and demonstrate a commitment to continuing nursing education as reflected in the representative activities,” explained the announcement from the Texas Nursing Association. “Again, congratulations!”
The commendation, at the accompanying renewal of the JPS continuing education programming for nurses are good for three years, through September 2021.
