JPS Climbs Modern Healthcare List of Best Places to Work

JPS Health Network

JPS Health Network is a top 20 hit with healthcare workers.

It landed the number 19 spot on Modern Healthcare’s 2018 list of Best Places to Work in Healthcare. That’s up 36 spots from its number 55 ranking last year, the first time JPS made the chart.

“What is so amazing is the effort each and every one of you made to make that happen,” JPS President and CEO Robert Earley told health network team members and leaders in reaction to the news. “You don’t get there when 10 percent – or even 25 percent -- of your people believe in what you’re doing. You get there when all of our team members are behind making this a great place to work every single day.”

JPS ranked third among providers located in the state of Texas on the 2018 list, trailing only a pair of healthcare institutions located in San Antonio.

Modern Healthcare and its Best Places to Work in Healthcare award winners have accomplished much in over the years, empowering healthcare organizations and the people who work for them to realize their full potential, according to Aurora Aguilar, editor of Modern Healthcare. Modern Healthcare partners with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.

“Our award winners can be proud of the role they played in elevating the standard for workplace excellence,” Aguilar said. “They have the judgment, drive and resilience to solve healthcare’s most significant challenges through our most important resource: people. They are pushing the envelope and creating a more engaged and productive workforce, all while tackling the ever-present challenges of cost, safety, quality and access.”

JPS was honored at the 2018 Best Places to Work Awards Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel. The competition, in its 11th year, includes not only hospitals but also healthcare providers, insurers and suppliers “that empower employees to provide patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services.”

Best Places to Work in Healthcare are selected based on results of an exhaustive application process that examines company policies, hiring practices and benefits, followed by a survey of hundreds of employees selected at random to provide anonymous responses to a lengthy questionnaire. The results are compiled into two lists, the top 75 healthcare providers and the top 75 healthcare insurers and providers.
