Setting the Standard

Donna Young-Bob is a Senior Staffing Coordinator who spends her professional life ensuring that each floor of JPS Health Network has adequate coverage and the network’s needs are fulfilled. Beyond her career, though, she is a mother.

“As a mother, JPS supported my needs. Whether it was childcare, different working hours, or encouraging a healthy work-life balance, there was never an issue with having to work while raising my family,” Young-Bob said.

Committed to Impact

In a fast-paced career, it can be easy to become consumed by work. Often, professionals find their work customary. They fall into the cycle of routines, just going through the motions.

It is different for Ekta Shrestha, RN Team Lead. Shrestha is a registered nurse at JPS Gertrude Tarpley - Watauga Health Center. Here, she diligently cares for her patients, their families, and the rest of the Watauga team.

A Place to Call Home

Healthcare – a place where patients seek help, comfort, and guidance. The carousel-like doors are forever turning as physicians, nurses, and support staff work to keep up. Healthcare can be demanding, but in our network, we are always ready, and we are proud of that.

Being a team member here at JPS Health Network extends far beyond showing up, clocking in, and doing your job. At JPS, we value passion, commitment, and sensitivity. We want to touch patients' lives, not just bandage them up and send them home.

Innovatively Impacting Patient Care

Pathology studies diseases, their causes, and their effects on the body. It involves examining tissues, organs, and bodily fluids to diagnose and understand diseases. Pathologists use various laboratory techniques and tools to analyze samples and inform healthcare professionals about the nature and extent of diseases.

Pathology is a crucial medical discipline that provides important information for diagnosing and treating diseases. While this discipline has existed for years, a new method of analyzing diseases has significantly reduced the time it takes to diagnose a patient.

Striving To Be the Best

When you're young, you often dream of what you want to be when you grow up. You might imagine yourself as a police officer, firefighter, ballerina, or even a princess. For Nadia Alawi-Kakomanolis, MD, MBA, Vice President of Clinical Operations, Acclaim Multi-Specialty Group, her childhood dream was to become a doctor. And that's exactly what she did.

Congratulations to our 2024 Fort Worth Magazine Top Doctors

Each year, Fort Worth Magazine produces a list intended to honor and recognize physicians for their excellence and success. The list features numerous peer-nominated professionals in a multitude of specialties. The nominations are then reviewed and narrowed by a panel of physicians. In the 2024 edition of “Top Docs,” a total of 70 JPS Health Network physicians were named.

Meeting Patients Where They Are

Social workers are compassionate advocates who provide guidance to patients in need, whether it's related to physical health or mental health. They help patients have difficult conversations, gain a deeper understanding of their situation, provide medical resources, or simply lend a listening ear. The bond between a social worker and their patient is special because it often takes time to build rapport and establish trust.

Back Into Rhythm

Music has always been a part of the life of Sam "Shake" Anderson. He had big dreams of becoming a musician from a young age and worked hard to achieve them. While pursuing his dreams, his life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with cancer, which forced him to deviate from his path and face a difficult battle. After undergoing brain surgery, Anderson lost hope of ever playing music again. However, a visit to the JPS Oncology & Infusion Center & Infusion Center restored his hope and made him believe he could do what he loved most again - create music.

Blood Education Can Save Lives

According to Carter BloodCare, around 4.5 million Americans require a blood transfusion each year. To cater to these needs, about 1,500 donors are required daily to meet the transfusion requirements of patients in the community. The partnership between JPS Health Network and Carter BloodCare ensures that the patients in the community have an ample amount of blood supply to cater to any transfusion needs across the network.

The Importance of Early Intervention

JPS Health Network patient, Lonnie Floyd has a history of heart problems. He suffers from congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation (a-fib), which he believes is due to his long history of smoking and drinking. One day, Floyd was in bed watching a television show when his fiancé noticed he was having seizure-like symptoms. Then he collapsed. When she called 911, she didn't know what to do, so the operator provided her with instructions on how to assess and begin performing CPR.
