Program Description

The JPS Nurse Residency Program is a 12 month program planned to support graduate nurses transitioning into their first professional nursing role. The program is comprised of a series of learning and work experiences that develop the clinical and leadership skills necessary to become a part of a successful healthcare team.

The Nurse Residency Program is designed to meet the accreditation standards set forth by the Commission Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). 

Program opportunities include:

  • Monthly case study discussions with JPS clinical pharmacists
  • Ethics symposia conducted by the JPS chaplain
  • EKG and ACLS certification courses
  • NIH stroke certification
  • Evidenced based practice projects
  • Review of research articles
  • Hands on experiential learning with JPS content experts
  • Resident patient outcome case study presentations
  • Cohort networking and social support

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduated or will graduate from an accredited School of Nursing program within the past 6 months.
  • No previous RN practice experience
  • Must pass NCLEX prior to start of Residency
  • Must have current BLS from American Heart Association

External candidates, should submit the Online Application from the JPS website,  Go to Careers, Apply, and then search for the JPS Nurse Resident position. Please include a current resume with your application.​


To be considered for the JPS Nurse Residency program, you must submit an application during the application acceptance timeframe and all documents requested must be submitted before the deadline.   If you do not submit all documents prior to the deadline, you will not be considered.

When your online application is reviewed, you will be emailed additional application information to be completed and returned to HR Talent Acquisition. We strongly encourage you to attach a résumé to your application. Unofficial transcripts will be required if selected for an interview. If you are selected to move forward, the panel interview dates are October 2nd - 4th from 12 - 5 PM. The peer interviews will take place from October 9th - November 3rd.
