Charles Horne, Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion

Charles Horne is the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at JPS Health Network. In this role he oversees the development, implementation and operation of all corporate diversity, equity and inclusion strategic programs, procedures and policies to maintain a culture of inclusion, equity, innovation, intellectual potential, and strong external diversity partnerships and brand. Charles is an active advocate for JPS in the local community and the region representing the organization to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Charles Horne joined the JPS Health Network in September 2020. As Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, Charles brings over twenty years of experience and leadership in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. 

Prior to joining JPS, he was Director of Diversity, Inclusion & Health Equity at Parkland Health & Hospital System where he collaborated with senior leadership providing strategic direction for leading the design, development and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion strategy and programs. This includes enhancing employeesÔÇÖ capability and skills, developing & implementing cultural competence/implicit bias learning and development modules, internal and external communications, metrics and measurements, benchmarking, external partnerships, the development and implementation of several employee resource groups, and co-led ParklandÔÇÖs Breast Cancer Equity Project to institute a standardized mechanism to reduce latent breast cancer diagnoses in two geographic areas (African American and Hispanic communities) in Dallas County. 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Minored in Asian Studies from University of Washington ÔÇô Tacoma Campus. He also holds a Master of Arts in Medical Anthropology from Creighton University. Charles is a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) - Diversity Training University International (DTUI), and obtained his Diversity and Inclusion Professional Certificate from Cornell University ILR. 

Charles moved to the DFW area in 2015 with his wife Sandra and daughter Faith. He also has a son Daniel who serves in the Navy as an IT Tech. CharlesÔÇÖ hobbies include zip-lining, exercising, hiking, traveling, learning about different cultures, audiobooks, and spending time with his daughter trying various foods from different cultures.
