Flu cases continue to climb

January 31st, 2018

The number of flu cases at JPS continues to increase, climbing by 240 in only three days and topping 1,700 for the month of January. Preventive measures remain important and unvaccinated individuals can still benefit from getting a flu shot.

Positive flu tests at John Peter Smith Hospital climbed to 684 on Wednesday, surpassing December’s total by 276. That includes tests done in the Emergency Department, Urgent Care and inpatient units.

Positive flu tests across JPS Health Network numbered 1,722, according to the most recent statistics available. That includes 1,080 flu cases at JPS community clinics throughout Tarrant County.

To stop the spread of the flu: Keep your hands clean, avoid touching your face and close contact with the coughs and sneezes of others (and cover your own with a sleeve).
