Electronic device recycling

April 11th, 2017

JPS team members are invited to bring unwanted computers and other electronic devices to the Main Campus on April 21 to have them recycled. JPS will have a vendor on site for four hours to collect all electronic devices except televisions.

Iron Mountain will also be on hand to provide free paper shredding and recycling.

“We wanted to do something special for Earth Day that benefits the environment and also provides a service for our hard-working fellow team members,” said Louis Bedford, executive director of Environmental Services. Earth Day is the following day, April 22. “Lots of us have old devices sitting around at home that we’ve been too busy to deal with.”

Any electronic device except a TV can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the parking lot outside Purchasing, on the north side of the hospital in the 200 block of Feliks Gwozdz Place (across the street from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.)

When parting with any electronic device, it’s important to make sure that personal information has been removed. (Deleting files does not permanently remove them.) DFW Reclaimers is authorized to remove sensitive information from computers at JPS and will provide that service for anyone bringing in a device for recycling.

Got an old TV that needs to be recycled? Goodwill Industries accepts televisions at their drop-off location at 4005 Campus Drive in Fort Worth, not far from JPS South Campus.

Goodwill also has an agreement with the City of Fort Worth to accept TVs at three drop-off stations, which can be found at http://fortworthtexas.gov/solidwaste/dropoff/.
