Fort Worth, TX- A sneak preview of the new a surgical robot is available today at 1:30 p.m. at the JPS Health Network Diagnostic & Surgery Hospital of Arlington 4400 New York, Ave. Arlington 76018.  JPS Health Network physicians have completed their training and are now completing cases with the new da Vinci S Surgical System.  JPS is the only hospital system in Fort Worth to have this technology, and is making it available to patients both at John Peter Smith Hospital and the JPS Health Network Diagnostic & Surgery Hospital of Arlington.

The robotic equipment provides patients with less blood loss, quicker recovery time (for some procedures it is approximately half the time) and less scarring. Physicians receive better range of motion, a more comfortable working environment (they can be seated rather than standing over the patient) and greater precision control.

The da Vinci Surgical System consists of an ergonomically designed surgeon's console, a patient-side cart with four interactive robotic arms, the high-performance InSite® Vision System and proprietary EndoWrist® Instruments. Powered by state-of-the-art robotic technology, the surgeon's hand movements are scaled, filtered and seamlessly translated into precise movements of the EndoWrist Instruments.
