JPS Physician Appointed Chair of Texas Medical Association Committee on Cancer

Sal LoCoco, MD, a gynecological oncology surgeon at JPS Health Network, has been appointed Chair of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Committee on Cancer. The committee supervises activities of TMA related to cancer, and inaugurates and promotes education among physicians and the public for control of cancer. He is a local leader in gynecological oncology surgery using the da Vinci S robotic surgery system at JPS.
 
“We are proud of our many physicians, including Dr. LoCoco, who actively engage themselves in initiatives and participate in organizations that will affect the future of medicine,” said Jay Haynes, MD, Chief Medical Officer at JPS. “LoCoco has pioneered innovative surgical treatments for patients at JPS and improved key quality indicators.”
 
In addition to serving as a physician at JPS, LoCoco is also Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at UNT Health Science Center and serves on the teaching faculty at JPS. He also serves as team physician for All Saints Episcopal School. LoCoco is a Fellow of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He completed his internship and residency at John Peter Smith Hospital and fellowship in gynecological oncology at the University of Toronto.
