Family Medicine: Application Process

FAMILY MEDICINE

Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) http://www.nrmp.org/ and accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm.
Any paper applications submitted will not be considered.

Applicants must submit the following information through ERAS:

  • Common Application Form
  • MSPE (Dean's) Letter
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Photo
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Personal Statement
  • USMLE or COMLEX Transcript
  • ECFMG Status Report (if applicable)

The applicant must specifically state that the letters of recommendation, personal statement and USMLE transcript be sent.

Application Criteria

Applications are accepted through ERAS from Sept. 1 to Dec. 31.

Each applicant must be licensable in the state of Texas. This includes passing each step of the USMLE or COMLEX within 3 attempts.

Graduation from medical school or completion of an ACGME approved residency program generally within the last 5 years.

Only J1 visas are accepted.

ECFMG certification is preferred before interviewing.

US experience is not required but is preferred.
