The main Eligibility and Enrollment Center will be open on three
Saturdays to help JPS Connection patients sign up for insurance through
the government’s Health Insurance Marketplace.
The Fort Worth/main campus location at 1325 S. Main St. will be open
February 22, March 8 and March 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The extra hours
were added after JPS sent letters to all JPS Connection members about
changes triggered by the Affordable Care Act, which requires that most
uninsured Americans sign up for new insurance plans at the government’s
Health Insurance Marketplace, www.HealthCare.gov.
JPS Connection is not health insurance. It is a program of last
resort, which requires that people already be taking advantage of all
other sources of assistance available to them. Connection members who
are eligible for insurance under the Affordable Care Act must sign up
for it in order to remain eligible for Connection. Many people will be
able to use both their new insurance and JPS Connection, with Connection
helping with out-of-pocket expenses.
The deadline to sign up for insurance is March 31.
If patients have questions about the Affordable Care Act or JPS
Connection, please direct them to Eligibility and Enrollment to ensure
that they receive the most accurate and up-to-date information. All
Eligibility and Enrollment specialists have been trained to help people
with the Health Insurance Marketplace, and can be reached at
817-702-1001. Information about JPS Connection can be found at www.jpshealthnet.org/For-Patients/Low-Cost-Medical-Care.aspx.
