The Correctional Health Department Nurse

The Correctional Health Department is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of services to the population in the Tarrant County Jail Facilities. Medical services are provided to over 3,500 inmates housed at three locations in Fort Worth, Texas.

correctional_health_2JPS Correctional Health offers a broad range of medical services on site at the jails. These services include physician sick call, nurse sick call, dental services, x-ray, and lab collection. OB/GYN and orthopedic clinics are also provided on a weekly basis eliminating the need to transport inmates to the hospital campus to obtain these services. In addition to these services the correctional department staffs an 11 bed infirmary unit to reduce the numbers and length of inpatient hospital stays. Our infirmary unit is capable of providing IV hydration and antibiotic administration, postoperative care, wound care as well as close medical monitoring.

Correctional nursing staff enjoy an exciting, fast paced and safe work environment with a close working relationship with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department Corrections Staff. It is our goal to provide quality medical services to the population we serve while maintaining an enjoyable and safe work environment for our employees.
