Program Overview
Obstetrics and Gynecology is a four-year residency program fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our program consists of 16 residents. The sponsoring institution is John Peter Smith Hospital, the county hospital serving Tarrant County. Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth, a private hospital, serves as a major participating rotation site. Our educational mission is to provide OB/GYN residents with a breadth of knowledge and hands-on training in not only their specialty, but in a variety of subspecialties as well. And, as the public health care facility for Tarrant County, residents will see and treat a wide array of pathologies.
Our Mission
The educational mission of the OB/GYN Department is to educate residents so that they are not only excellent practitioners of obstetrics and gynecology, but also superior candidates if they wish to pursue a career in the subspecialties of Reproductive Endocrinology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology or Urogynecology.
