Third Annual Spirit of JPS award winners named

Fort Worth, TX - Janet Handy-Reyes, Clara Moses, RN, Tom O'Bannon and Kathy Sellman, MSN, RN were recently awarded the David M. Cecero Spirit of JPS award.  The award was developed by JPS in an effort to honor outstanding performance and altruistic work by employees.

Handy-Reyes, Moses, O'Bannon and Sellman were selected from seven finalists based on a point system that was scored from nomination letters submitted by employees.  Scoring was based on altruistic contributions, initiative, accountability and integrity.

Handy-Reyes is a Customer Service Representative for Patient Accounting and has been with JPS for three years.  She is responsible for researching all refund requests, patient billing issues and customer service.  Handy-Reyes  is also a medical assistant.

Moses, RN is the Charge Nurse in the OR.  She is responsible for coordinating all staff, services and procedures for all nine operating rooms and works as a liaison between Post Op, Pre Op and the scheduling department. Moses has been with JPS for 15 years and has implemented initiatives to improve the OR work processes and patient experiences.  

O'Bannon, Director of Materials Management, is responsible for purchasing, distribution, receiving, storeroom and central supply. He has been a JPS employee for two years, and works with University Health System Consortium and Novation for supply and equipment selection.   He is an active fundraiser for JPS in the American Heart Walk and the March of Dimes WalkAmerica.

Sellman, MSN, RN is a clinical nursing instructor who has been with JPS for two years.  Selman holds a Master's Degree in Nursing Administration and a Minor in Education from the University of Texas at Arlington.  She is responsible for employees working to obtain their RN status.
