Worksite Innovation Award goes to JPS
JPS Health Network was awarded the American Heart Association’s top prize for employers dedicated to promoting fitness and good health at work.
The association’s Worksite Innovation Award recognizes employers who “go above and beyond when it comes to their employees’ health.” Only 17 entities across the country met the criteria for the top award for the January 2013 selections. JPS also maintained its status as a Platinum Fitness-Friendly Worksite .
“I’m very excited,” said Nikki Sumpter, vice president of Human Resources and Learning. “We’ve made tremendous strides in encouraging our employees to make health and fitness a top priority.”
Leading the employee wellness efforts is JPS ENLIVEN, which promises future savings on health plan benefits for employees who take steps to engage in health and fitness. Main campus stairwells have been spruced up to encourage employees to travel between floors on the stairs instead of elevators. Plans are under way to develop a walking path with fitness stations on the land once occupied by St. Joseph Hospital. And, Weight Watchers at Work and JPS ENLIVEN’s Healthy Habits, are promoting weight management.
