Junior League of Fort Worth Benefits Children at JPS
JPS significantly aids those who cannot afford medical care, but care often goes outside a medical need, seeking to grant a little “cheer,” particularly with children and around the holidays.
More than 6,000 children are served by “All I Want for Christmas” program -- from newborns to 12. And for every child that is helped, a lot of effort, organization and helping hands are needed.
This year the Junior League of Fort Worth (JLFW) donated $15,000 for toy purchases and members joined in to make the holidays happier for JPS’ younger patients. JLFW Project Development chair Kristy Odom and her committee determined the number of toys the organization could donate and made the purchases. In addition, they worked with Volunteer Services department to sort, wrap and distribute toys at the main hospital and 12 of the largest health centers during December.
The outcome – lots of happy children and relieved parents since for some this will be the only Christmas they have.
